Man Kicked Off Plane for Vaping in Bathroom

@Copwatchtv obtained body camera footage of an incident where a man decided to go vape in the airplane’s lavatory. Doing so caused the smoke detector to go off and forced the pilots to land the plane in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Sheriff and city police responded to the Santa Fe Regional Airport to board the plane and remove the man. Police interviewed the man and passed the case to the FAA and NTSB. It is unclear what fines he faced.

  1. People get away with vaping in the bathroom all the time. This… was not one of those times. You gotta blow that down the toilet while flushing. Sheesh, kids these days don't even know the basic tricks of the trade

  2. I know nicotine/vape is well addictive, but I still cannot imagine being so desperate that you risk a bloody FEDERAL CHARGE to have one in midair.

  3. I remember flying back in the 70’s with my four siblings and my parents. Mom and Dad would be in the back so they could smoke and us kids would be in the front making castles and mountains with our food trays!!

  4. "When they call and talk to you, don't denie it" 🙄LEOs are so manipulative, they pretend to be your friends unless you say the "A" Word (attorney).. I hope this guy denies it and gets himself a decent lawyer 😒

  5. I wonder how many airplanes have crashed because of smoking much less vaping? 🤔

    I'm guessing zero.

I still remember smoking allowed on airplanes. Then the Karens started to take over.

  6. The ramifications of diverting a plane, altering arrival and departure times, making unscheduled changes in any way inflicts a huge cost to the airline, as well as inconvenience fellow travelers who may have connecting flights, etc. He should be charged for the unnecessary costs incurred for the airline AND for every person impacted by his ridiculous addiction, and barred from air travel from all airlines. The police officer expressed his understanding of his need for nicotine, but wear a fucking patch! I guarantee, the nicotine withdrawal won’t hurt nearly as much as the fine.

  7. It takes EFFORT to set off a smoke alarm with a vape. This genius was probably blowing the vapors directly into the alarm or blowing out monster clouds. Everything about this guy is stupid. Now he gets to pay the stupid tax.

  8. How are so many people this stupid on planes? We really have become the dumbest nation per capita. American science production fell 50% in just 10 years. Stupid is spreading across the nation like an actual virus.

  9. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. I’ve smoked on planes when it was legal. Then it was legal in international airspace but not Australia now , for 25 years I don’t smoke. Flying is a serious business now.

  10. Once they found out it was just vape..couldn’t they just keep flying? …..seems a little over dramatic to me, but I don’t know everything 🤷‍♂️

  11. Vape on the plane is this man serious now you just put your self in big trouble might end up in no Fly List for that Stunt ….

  12. He shoulda eaten some edibles and taken a few drops of tincture, wouldn’t have caused a delay and travel nightmare for everyone else.

  13. I would have just denied it, they cant prove you actually vaped behind a closed door with no camera in the bathroom from just posessing a vape. The smoke alarm could be malfuctioning or whatever, why even admit to it.

  14. Irrespective of his demeanor, this man is selfish and despicable. At the very least, he has screwed up the schedule for those passengers probably causing them to miss connections and perhaps even critical events or appointments. On top of that, he caused havoc with other flights. The airline is going to send him a very large bill and he will definitely need to get a real lawyer if the FBI is going to talk to him. What a putz.

  15. The last time I was on a CRJ that size was from Charlotte to Baton Rouge, 2.5 hours of hellish anxiety. Popped two .5 mg of clonazepam and was still having problems, miserable flight.

Wasn’t till much later in life I was diagnosed with late Lyme disease, much better now!
