Lancaster, California — On December 4, 2023, at 6:08 p.m., Lancaster Station deputies responded to an apartment in the 2100 block of East Avenue J-8 in the city of Lancaster, regarding a domestic violence call. A female called 911 and reported that her boyfriend would not leave her alone and then screaming and sounds of a struggle could be heard. The female was later identified as 27-year-old Niani Finlayson of Lancaster. Deputies arrived on scene and approached the front door of the apartment; they could hear people arguing and yelling inside. As they attempted to make forced entry into the apartment, a female adult opened the front door, armed with a large kitchen knife.
Finlayson told deputies she was going to stab her boyfriend for pushing her daughter. Finlayson retreated into the apartment toward the area where her boyfriend was sitting. Deputies entered the apartment, where Finlayson grabbed her boyfriend while holding the knife in an apparent attempt to stab him, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Finlayson was struck by gunfire, fell to the floor, and dropped the knife. Deputies rendered first aid to her until Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived and continued to provide medical aid. Finlayson was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. A kitchen knife with an approximate eight-inch blade was recovered at the scene. There were no other people injured during the incident.

Cop stepped in and shot her immediately. Female cop was trying to talk to her and he just shoots her. He even had the taser out but dropped it and shot her 4 times.

the dispatcher was horrible. after i was a (lady) street officer for a number of years, i took 911 calls later in life. have compassion and some common sense, you have enough into, get the call going and stop pushing for control so much.

So much stupid in this vid idk what is wrong with these ppl. She called the police as the victim but refused to distance herself from the suspect, then became the assailant right in front of the police.
I’m not saying the shoot was unjustified but I wish the officer after asking for the taser would have at least tried using it since he had lethal coverage although the risk to the unarmed suspect/victim was high cause of the unstable woman.

I guess when a woman calls the police with the dramatic allegation, "He's being abusive," it is not always a blank check for her to extort his money.
She should have tossed the knife and stepped outside when the cops were banging at the door or stepped back behind her daughter and said there he is, he's trespassing but I think she wanted to hold the knife at his throat for a final word before the cops arrested him which obviously is not going to end well. It's also odd that the door was locked and not wide open with them trying to get him to leave. It makes me think that she was holding him at knife point with the door locked and wasn't allowing him to leave because he allegedly hit her or her daughter. She also could have left while on the phone with dispatch even though she doesn't have a duty to retreat her own home but the guy would have probably just left if he knew that the cops were coming for him shortly.
