On May 8, 2022, the Austell Police Department received a distress call concerning a male wielding a knife and threatening an elderly couple in Austell, Georgia.
Responding officers found a man in a state of agitation, claiming he had been robbed and insisting on the arrest of the elderly couple, whom he accused of attempting to steal from him.
Concerned for everyone’s safety, the officers promptly disarmed the agitated individual and began questioning him.
The man denied threatening the old couple with the knife.
Despite his claims of victimhood, the officers found his behavior suspicious and sought to verify his identity.
However, the man didn’t have identification, offering only his name and date of birth.
Meanwhile, the elderly couple recounted their version of events, explaining that the altercation began when the man started hurling insults at them for seemingly no reason.
It was later revealed that the dispute stemmed from a soda drink left near a garbage can.
As officers attempted to confirm the man’s identity through official channels, they encountered difficulty matching the information he provided.
Sensing deception, the officers warned him of the consequences of providing false information.
After his arrest, officers proceeded to search the man and discovered his true identity on his medical card.
Ultimately, the man faced charges of disorderly conduct and The couple were released without further incident.
