On June 14, 2022, a routine day took an unexpected turn for a Brookhaven police officer near a Walgreen store. The officer was flagged down by witnesses who reported a theft involving a black male who had stolen items from the store and fled.
Shortly after receiving this information, the vigilant officer located the suspect, who was walking with a knife in hand. Concerned for safety, the officer activated their patrol lights and approached the suspect. In a tense but controlled interaction, the officer asked the suspect to surrender the knife, and he complied.
Seeking to address the Walgreen incident, the officer engaged the suspect in conversation. The suspect admitted to having visited the store but dismissed it as unworthy of discussion. To ensure the safety of both the suspect and the public, the officer requested that he sit on the patrol car’s push bumper. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the suspect decided to make a run for it.
A foot chase ensued, with the officer and assisting officers joining the pursuit. After a few minutes of pursuit, the suspect was successfully captured. A search of the suspect’s bag revealed two mini speakers valued at $40, which had been stolen from Walgreen.
As a result of this incident, the suspect faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana, obstruction, theft by shoplifting, and pedestrian in the roadway

  1. These people just do not know how to give up. These people should be ashamed of themselves. The fat out of shape officers should be ashamed of themselves as well

  2. The first officer is too out of shape. Suspects will get away from her every time. She need to loose some weight.

  3. I live in NYC and I'm just glad cops are still going after shoplifters in some places. In some cities, cops don't even care about stolen cars because even if they spot it, they have to terminate pursuit – especially if the suspect is driving erratically which … encourages people to steal cars then drive erratically. We're going backwards.
