On April 23, 2022, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a car swerving all over the road in Milton, Florida.
Deputies rushed to find the car and pulled it over, asking the young female driver to step out of the vehicle to speak with them.
During this interaction, they noticed some pills on the front seat of the car.
The deputy explained to her the reason for pulling her over, but she denied being drunk or under any influence.
To gain clarity, deputies sought out witnesses, an older couple whose account painted a harrowing picture of near-misses and potential disaster.
The deputy went back to talk to the young driver again, but she continued to deny driving under the influence.
She was asked about the damage to the front of her vehicle, but she couldn’t explain where or how it occurred.
The deputy pointed out that she had slurred speech and dilated pupils. He then asked her to take a field sobriety test, and she agreed to do so.
Field sobriety tests confirmed their suspicions, leading to her arrest and charge for dui.
The female deputy conducted a search, but the suspect became aggressive and attempted to fight back, dissatisfied with the procedure
With the assistance of other deputies, she was eventually placed in the back of the vehicle.
