DUI Arrest or Wrong Place, Wrong Time?

#CrimeCamNow
On May 2nd, 2022, a Dunwoody police officer spotted a vehicle running a red light and driving on a flat tire in Dunwoody, Georgia
With the potential safety hazard, the officer activated his lights to pull the vehicle over.
Instead of stopping, the car sped towards a gas station, parked abruptly, and the driver vanished.
Meanwhile, another car with a flat tire pulled up to the same gas station to refuel.
The officer spoke to the woman driving the second car, noticing her slurred speech.
Initially denying any drinks, she eventually admitted to having “a couple” on her birthday, which tragically coincided with the loss of her mother.
Despite her emotional state, crying a lot, the officer requested a field sobriety test due to her speech and driving with a flat tire.
The woman failed the test, leading to a DUI arrest.
In the police car, she requested to speak with a supervisor hoping to avoid charges.
While officers sympathized with her situation, they could only offer to have someone pick up her car, which had a suspended registration.
Officer explained her charges: DUI, driving with a suspended license, and driving an unsafe vehicle.
During transport to Dekalb County Jail, her initial sadness morphed into anger. She screamed accusations about the officer not being helpful or caring.
