Disorderly Pedestrian Leads to Arrest

#CrimeCamNow

On February 18,2021, a Brookhaven police officer spotted a pedestrian crossing the busy Peachtree Road in Brookhaven, Ga.
The officer stopped to talk to the man, who appeared to be agitated and in a rush. The officer asked for his identification to check, but the suspect started to walk away.
A backup officer followed the suspect and asked him to step out of a McDonald’s to talk.
The officer called the supervisor and advised him that he had a display of taser on the last call. He advised that if the offender was disorderly then the male needed to be arrested.
The officers located the suspect just up the street and attempted to detain him, but he resisted arrest.
After a brief struggle, the suspect was finally arrested and charged with obstruction of law enforcement officers and disorderly conduct.
The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers police officers face every day while trying to keep the community safe. While the suspect’s behavior was unacceptable, the officers were able to handle the situation with professionalism and bring the suspect to justice.

  1. He threatened to beat a cop. Like the cop said in the video, that’s disorderly conduct at a minimum. At most, it’s assaulting a police officer. Since he calmed down and gave them what they needed, they decided to let him go. But then their supervisor told them to arrest him, so their hands were tied. They should have called the supervisor before letting him go, but it did happen very quickly so they may not have though to do so first. The supervisor maybe didn’t fully understand the whole situation and gave the order to arrest not knowing all the specific details. Or maybe the supervisor didn’t like the idea of someone threatening one of his officers and just walking away without any charges. In my opinion, the cops on the scene made the right call in initially letting him go. However, that is only my opinion. Others may disagree and believe that arresting him right away would have been the better decision. This is quite a gray area, as there certainly was probably cause for an arrest. It does not matter if he’s mentally ill or on drugs or completely sober and lucid. That’s what court is for, to figure that out. It may also be the case that the best way for that man to get the mental help he needs is through the court system. He clearly doesn’t seem to have much money or health insurance, so I certainly doubt he was going to get any help continuing to live on the streets pushing all his belongings around in a shopping cart.

  2. There was NO reason to arrest this man. Earn the hate. The first cop was an idiot. Couldn’t wait to escalate this. The woman and the last cop were very respectful.

  3. 09:40 ts: ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!! This guy DID NOT CROSS ANY ROADS, HE OBEYED YOUR DIRECTIONS!!
He was MOST LIKELY ' MAKING THE ROUNDS' for FOOD before someone else BEAT HIM TO IT!! This video has me LIVID, DISGUSTED, AND HEARTBROKEN ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!

  4. WHERE ARE the MORALS in these LEO's?
Letting him GO FREE, then you HAVE TO CALL YOUR SUPERVISOR TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO??!!
YOU TRAUMATIZED this guy because BE BRUISED YOUR EGO!! THAT IS JUST WRONG!!!
YOU HAVE NO COMPASSION FOR the mentally challenged!! You came up on him quickly, and had a TONE in your voice. Out on the STREET, that usually idms followed by EVERYTHING YOU OWN BEING TAKEN, and YOU getting knocked to the ground with NOTHING LEFT! 🥴 ENJOY your nice warm safe HOUSE and comfortable LUXERY TRUCK! Because you just knocked this guy back under the dirt and stones!!! 😢

  5. I pray this video touches the right people to get justice for this situation and this man. He clearly needs help. This was so unnecessary!

  6. What a load of crap those officers are. And the one that keeps talking about fighting has a major ego problem too. A real tough guy, huh?

  7. I'm confused about what happens around the 9 min mark. He was advised about how to cross the street safely, and he agreed and went on his way. Why do they suddenly need to go back and arrest him? This guy is not a criminal. He's obviously down on his luck, and if they really were concerned about him they could've talked to him as friends about how to help him get back on his feet and maybe given him some phone numbers to call. But instead they come back for revenge? What the F

  8. This is nothing more than hassling someone because he is homeless and not in his right mind. These officers should be ashamed. The rest of us should be ashamed for allowing mentally ill people to live on the street.

  9. I wonder if he released that taser the first time on purpose knowing that there needed to be an arrest when u deploy it. That’s sad they let him go and he was cool after talking to the other male officer. Smdh They must’ve been slow on arrests for the month

  10. This is what policing has become?
Pig’s mistreating, victimizing and harassing a already struggling soul. Then they go home at night and pretend to be the “good guys” and expect society to applaud them for their service. Pathetic!
Clearly this man is mentally disabled, tasing him and embarrassing him all while he’s just trying to get along in life the best he can with his many struggles. Thank you for your service you self righteous ignorant clowns. I hope you reap what you sow. Bravo!

  11. I know J walking is a crime but this man is homeless. Leave him alone. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ He probably dont even bother anybody.

  12. That first officer wasn't assertive at all. She told the second officer that she had his name & DOB and was gonna run it. She told him to stop and he walked away and she didn't say a word after. The second cop pulled his taser right after that. Both need to be retrained or fired.

  13. Bruh got enough problems..look how he living. He on hard times..you mfrs ain't $h!t..go find something else to do besides bother a homeless brother.💯💯💯

  14. This man is clearly unstable. Inform him of his misdeed and move on……I started writing this comment halfway through the video. This shit is foul. Extra foul. This man needs a civil rights lawyer bad

  15. The first woman cop is who failed to do her job correct. The 2nd officer was shown aggression just for being a white guy with a badge. This man arrested was ticking time bomb of aggression and hate. Good work officers.

  16. THIS WAS RIDICULOUS !!! YOU LET HIM GOOO ANd then come back on him aggressively …he didnt know what was going on. yaw didnt have anything better to do??!! yaw could of helped him but yaw rather lock him up…SAD!!!!!

  17. It was all good until that one officer got offended that he mentioned fighting him 🙄 I get he may have been a little in the wrong but they could have let him go on his way. He even said he moves fast because he doesn’t want any issues. He probably gets into it with most people

  18. This look like a schizophrenic disorder. Guy needs help. I think the female and other male could see that clearly. This was handled ok but try and arrest all the homeless who Jay walk and see the pattern of sickness. There are many cases where mentally I’ll have died in police custody.

  19. See how the Europeans have no patience for people who don’t look like them… notice the other officers only worked to diffuse the situation but the euros can’t wait to use force…. I know you see it.

  20. The escalation and arrest were total BS. Obstruction of law enforcement and disorderly conduct charges for a man mindng his own business. This was just charged because he did not cow down to the officers like he was their servant.

  21. Whatever. That white cop was just mad because the black cops defused the situation. What an asshole. Had to call his boss and ask if he could lock up.

  22. As a worker in the mental health field this one had me yelling at the phone while I watched. He speaks in "word salad", when it is complete sentences he bounces from topic to topic, he's clearly paranoid (you could tell how he would allow the officers to get behind him in the McDonald's parking lot, he was posturing in the McDonald's (which normally happens when their afraid just as a defense) and he was terrified when the got him at the wing stop. This brother clearly needs some intervention, police intervention just wanted the type he needed.

  23. What happens when ur dad was never around for real for real and ur mammi smoked crack for real for real

  24. And this is why some people immediately leave when they see police presence… causing issues when there was none to begin with.
Just give him a warning and let him go with his cart

  25. These comments are usually extra pro cop which is cool if thats ur opinion , but tis surprising that the majority place the blame on the others for escalating this more than what it had to.

  26. This one pissed me off…. I thought the video where the girl that was talking a lot aggravated me…. Nah this the one….. ESPECIALLY since the second round of officers were the same color
