Austin, Texas — On Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 4:28 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officer Dalton Schroeder and officer Jason Wright responded to a Check Welfare Urgent call at 6865 East US 290 Highway Service Road EB. The officers arrived and located a child that was choking. Relatives told the officers that the boy was choking on candy. Officer Schroeder quickly utilized his personal anti-choking device and applied lifesaving techniques on the child, bringing him back to normal breathing.

  28. Wait I was told all cops were racist and wanted to kill all black and brown people. Obviously that is not the case or this kid would have died because the cops would have taken their time getting there. People need to stop pushing these types of lies and bullshit.

  32. US Officers r the best in this kind of situations for what I’ve seen. They’re well trained.

    The police in my country (Venezuela) would not have known what to do and would have waited for EMS to arrived (40 min later) and the child would have died.
