Arkansas Trooper Arrests Sheriff’s Deputy for DUI

On September 17, 2019 Arkansas State Police Trooper Robbie Stewart was on patrol in Jackson County when he received a call. Someone had called 911 to advise that he was following a truck whose driver was “all over the road” and “driving at a high rate of speed … running vehicles off the road.”

Less than three minutes later Trooper Stewart had the 2018 Jeep Compass pulled over. Seconds later, Stewart discovered that its driver was Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Joseph Zitzelberger

Zitzelberger insisted that he was fine, but the trooper was having none of it and responded directly: “Adam, you’re drunk.” Zitzelberger blew more than twice the legal limit on a preliminary breath test, was physically incapable of performing standardized field sobriety tests, and returned a solid .187% BAC on the breathalyzer test back at the station.

Adam Joseph Zitzelberger was arrested for Speeding, More Than 15 MPH Over Limit and Driving While Intoxicated – DWI 1st. On October 23, 2019 Zitzelberger pleaded guilty to all charges and received a 30-day suspended jail sentence. He was also ordered to complete a mandatory DUI class. As you can see from the disciplinary memo at the end of this video, his predictions about this ending his career did not come true.

  1. "Out of respect" He didn't tow the vehicle.
"Out of respect" He didn't do the FST's on the side of the road.
So he doesn't respect anyone else who is not law enforcement that he pulls over for a DUI?

  2. Yup. I got a DUI in Alabama. Passed my breathalyzer, blood test all negative. I don't even have prescription meds at my house or in my system, was in no shape to be driving I agree. Was trying to get to a hospital. Was loosing blood for a couple days due to diverticulitis which I didn't know I had.. Almost died in the jail over night and spent a week in ICU the following week. I didn't even know who I was. Sad situation. I have blood sugar issues and couldn't take my meds for a couple days before and was at work every day.

  3. What makes cops think they should get a pass when it comes to drunk driving. The drunk cop could not even walk or talk he was that drunk. Hey but that is okay, no handcuffs, cops call someone to drive his vehicle home. Nice!! You can bet you or I would be arrested, handcuffed, and our vehicle towed. I guess drunk cops are the exception to the rule. 7 day suspension is all he got and is still a cop. Disgusting.

  4. I’ve seen other cops get arrested and show real aggression but this one isn’t aggressive at all. I know he did very wrong but I feel very sorry for him. He was over twice the limit but it seems as he f It five times which shows he is not used to alcohol. I’m glad he didn’t lose his job. One chance can change his life.

  5. I blew a .09 and was treated like a bank robber. This was 20 years ago and I don't drink anymore. Cops should be held to a higher standard.

  6. Cover for the drunk cop. That's what wrong with law enforcement. The thin blue line is nothing more than. Bad cops covering for bad cops. I'm a nurse I never have and never would cover for a bad nurse. Because that makes me a bad nurse. Not a snitch.

  7. I keep hearing people comment that the drunk cop is getting off! He’s not getting off because his career is over and he’s getting a DUI!

  8. “Who can we call to come get your truck?” Oh, you’re not gonna tow it like every other case? And the ol’ “I hate you put me in this position…” Cops getting special treatment like this should a punishable offense and against every departments policy!
