On January 13, 2022, the Dunwoody Police Department responded to a distressing scene in Atlanta, Georgia, where a vehicle had collided with a construction barrier. The driver claimed that another vehicle forced him to swerve, causing the accident. However, a Georgia State Patrol trooper, who witnessed the incident, offered a different account of the events.

According to the trooper, there were no other vehicles nearby at the time of the crash. It appeared that the driver had simply lost control and collided with the barrier. Officer noticed the unmistakable signs of impairment as he interacted with the driver. His speech was slurred, and a strong smell of alcohol emanated from him.

Despite repeated requests from the officers, the driver refused to participate in field sobriety tests, seemingly preoccupied with a phone call. The officers quickly recognized that he might be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Without any further delay, the officers placed the driver under arrest and secured him inside a police SUV. During a routine search of his vehicle, they discovered a quantity of marijuana in the car, adding to the list of charges.

The driver eventually admitted that he had been distracted by his phone, scrolling through pictures, while driving. He was charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic, dui, possession of marijuana, less than one ounce and transported to Dekalb county jail.
