On July 21, 2022, in Chamblee, Georgia, Chamblee police officers received a call from the Walmart loss prevention team regarding a suspected shoplifter. This was not the first time they had encountered the individual, identified as Brooks, London, who had a history of shoplifting from this Walmart.
Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and confronted the suspect outside the store. When they attempted to detain him, Brooks vehemently denied the allegations, claiming he had paid for the items. He physically resisted, yelled, and screamed in protest.
Recognizing the need for additional manpower, more officers arrived to assist in the arrest. Despite Brooks’s continued protests, he was taken into custody.
Charged with theft by shoplifting, criminal trespass, and obstruction of law enforcement officers, Brooks was transported to the Dekalb County Jail. However, his disruptive behavior didn’t end there. During the booking process, he continued to resist and scream, resulting in further restraint by officers to maintain order.
