Officer Shoots at Eluding Suspects After Witnessing a Drive-By
On December 24, 2022, the Chicago Police Department had an officer-involved shooting near 5900 S. Halsted. Based on preliminary information, the initial incident began when two officers were driving southbound on Halsted, approaching the intersection at 59th Street. Officers heard multiple gunshots nearby and observed an individual fire a weapon into a vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.
One of the officers exited the police vehicle and discharged their weapon at the subject. After a brief vehicle pursuit, three individuals fled the scene on foot. The involved individuals have not been identified or apprehended.
All are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
