When an officer won't acknowledge they over-stepped and, instead, doubles-down on their unlawful orders, it does not make it better if they do it while smiling. This behavior needs to be identified and treated like any other illness and, until treated, putting these sick people in charge of law enforcement is causing an erosion in our society that makes both society and police unsustainable. When an officer can not properly assess risk because they are devoid of the judgement required to tell the good citizens from the bad citizens, the LEO is in the wrong line of work and should be removed or retrained before the consequences become untenable for both police and citizens. If these changes are not voluntarily implemented soon, the future looks expensive and painful for all of us.
