  1. How is it even possible that the thought that perhaps this isn’t what it looks like on surface level, never cross their mind? She’s an elderly woman, clearly confused, and quite frankly looks like somebody’s sweet old grandma. Throw this on the pile of reasons I hate police. The fact this doesn’t surprise me, says it all.

  2. One of the most complete and important justice videos. Thank you from an autistic who always gets maltreated and always wins in the end, on behalf of those of us who never do.

  3. This is an bullshit analysis. She was actively resisting arrest, and the officers had no way to know that she was disabled. In my experience, shoplifters use a number of manners to disguise or excuse their behavior. I usually totally agree with your summations, but you missed the purpose of law enforcement,. It is not only to protect individuals, but also institutions, like stores from theft and other offenses!

  4. I worked in retail for years. I feel very sad for the lady, but the officer was just trying to do his duty and she was resisting arrest actively. There was no way that he would know of her disabilities initially, and shoplifters use a number of ploys to excuse their actions. Was he just supposed to let her walk away. If so, how would that hinder future shoplifting by her or others? The bystander asking about the arrest was totally justified by what he was seeing. I hope that the lady gets help, and has a friend or relative with her in future shopping. Or the store being advised of her problems could have an employee help her to get her shopping done legally. I helped such ones several times in my career. I didn't watch the whole thing, but at the halfway point, I saw no offense by the officer.

  5. UPDATE: for those interested….

Hopp got 5 yrs, 3 probation – wonder if that flies with him.

Jalali got 45 days for failure to intervene – kinda lame, as she didn't even get there until after he had roughed her up.

City of Loveland doled out $3 mil to settle.

  6. If they jack grandma 👵 up like that and laughing about it no one stand a chance. They could have spared grandma instead of Extreme Force.
