Knoxville, Tennessee — On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at around 7:40 a.m., two Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a reported domestic situation involving a man, 25-year-old Jamauri Griffin, armed with a gun at ex-girlfriend’s home in the 4700 block of Santala Drive. The officers arrived at the scene at around 7:50 a.m. Officers entered the home and announced themselves as KPD officers. Seconds later, they encountered Griffin armed with a handgun, who then shot 23-year-old woman who was inside of the home. Officers fired in response, striking Griffin at least one time. Officers immediately requested medical assistance. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to the UT Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the face. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
