Houston, Texas — On April 14, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant observed a vehicle on the roadway with an expired registration and a broken tail light lens in the 1000 block of FM 1960 Road West. The sergeant conducted a traffic stop and asked the driver to provide his identification. The sergeant learned the driver, identified as 41-year-old Patrick Hurst, had several outstanding warrants. The sergeant told the now known suspect, Hurst to step out of his vehicle. Hurst refused to exit the vehicle. Additional deputies arrived to the scene. The sergeant and deputies spoke with Hurst attempting to convince him to exit the vehicle, but he refused.
Hurst then fled from the traffic stop, and a vehicle pursuit began. Deputies conducted a Precision Immobilization Technique also known as a PIT maneuver, to end the pursuit safely. After his vehicle was disabled, Hurst exited the vehicle, attempted to flee on foot, produced a pistol and fired several shots at the deputies. The sergeant and three deputies returned fire, striking Hurst multiple times. The deputies requested EMS to respond to provide medical assistance. Hurst was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputies recovered a loaded .25 caliber pistol next to Hurst. An uninvolved bystander was shot during the exchange of gunfire. The bystander was transported to an area hospital and survived her injuries.

(NY Post) A Texas gunman who called himself a “sovereign citizen” not bound by US laws was killed in a shootout with cops while livestreaming on Facebook.
Patrick Hurst, 47, told Harris County deputies who pulled him over for an expired registration and busted tailgate in Houston on Sunday that he would not comply with their orders because he was a member of the extremist movement that doesn’t accept the legitimacy of government institutions.
He drove off soon after cops learned he had a possible open out-of-county felony warrant for evading police before he was stopped with spike strips.
Hurst then streamed on Facebook Live as he pulled a handgun and jumped out of his car to confront the pursuing officers — getting killed after firing first at the deputies, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Suspect had a 25 caliber pistol, the most inaccurate gun I can think of.
So sad he probably would of been in jail for 90 days for driving with no license 🪪 but don't know about the felony warrant? But what ever it was for it wasn't worth losing your life over it. Sober up get your life together and be a law biden citizen.

Just like you cant bring a knife to a gunfight, having a gun in your hand does not mean you can take on a platoon of trained officers. Especially when one is shooting at you while trying to stop a tahoe from rolling forwards.
They should be detained while they resolve the issue at hand instead of leaving him in the car.

Shooting bystanders is not cool
Is it that hard to throw the stop sticks under a car (discretely, if necessary) immediately upon confirming that this individual could and is likely to flee after the initial contact and while the vehicle is still stopped?
I’m more concerned with how the police moved, it’s a miracle there wasn’t a blue on blue, one officer almost gets run over by the lead vehicle, and shooting towards a school bus!
See how they all shoot together? That's brothers.. not just one cop. Is all together if you are searching for blame. Battle brothers understand. "Cease fire" But after that man shot they all killed him in union.
