Nevada Highway Patrol Car Door Ripped Off on Freeway (Body Cam)

We interrupt our regularly unscheduled programming to bring you this footage from earlier this week.

In an exercise of judgement consistent with the poor life decisions seen in the citations she ultimately received, the woman driving the vehicle that obliterated the door of this cruiser sped off after the impact. Hit-and-run with a police car. Less than clever.

After an anonymous tip located the woman, she ultimately received a number of misdemeanor citations: driving without a valid license, hit and run with property damage, and failure to stop and render aid.

The patrol car, with its emergency lights activated, had been stopped about 5 p.m. on Monday along the off-ramp at U.S. 95 North and Summerlin Parkway when this incident occurred.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

  1. All he said was "Damn it"? Wtf has this dude seen in his life that having his door ripped off .5 second after opening it only musters up a "Damn it"? Not even a "DAMN IT"! Just "Damn it". I'm pretty sure I'd have said much worse, with alot more volume and feelings!!

  2. First thing that come to mind is Smokey and the Bandit. The sheriff driving around in a messed up car. It looked like he slow rolled the door to like he waiting for the car to pass.

  3. He’s lucky if he would’ve stepped out any faster he would have been hit and possibly even killed. Move over or slow down people it’s not worth a officers life or even your own if you get into a nasty crash

  4. Shortly after the incident, the door was transported to Nevada General Hospital in critical condition with 2 dislocated hinges and a shattered window, the door had succumb to it's injuries. the officer that was on scene at the time was very distraught and stated that this was the third door that was killed in that week. The door leaves behind a wife and 2 kids.

  5. The way his hands shake when the door leaves the car say he’s afraid… but the calmness in his “damn it”, shows he’s seen too much…

  6. he should've looked sometimes circumstances arise where a lane shift might not be immediately possible especially for more timid drivers.

  7. Some of these comments make me wonder how close you people drive to other cars. The cop hadn't even finished opening his door…. not to mention the whole slow down and move over thing.

  8. This happen to me in my driveway. Got home after 3rd shift, sat in driveway for about 2 or 3 mins, then I opened the door. At the same time a family member running late for work was dropping something off at my house drove up the driveway doing about 10-15mph. Luckily I didn't take a step out yet and my door stopped all of her momentum. I think since I was in an suv and her a compact and perfect timing save me from havingto to get a whole new door and only new hinges and some small body work

  9. It's the driver's responsibility to not open their door until they check that it's safe to do so. If the situation were reversed and the fuzz took some other driver's door off he'd be writing that driver a ticket.

  10. Let’s be real should he have looked yes. But fact is that door isn’t much longer than 3 feet and you should for no reason be that close to a stopped vehicle on the freeway much less and emergency vehicle

  11. See, this is why tickets can be issued through mail! No ticket on earth is worth the life of a officer or citizen. Yeah yeah, they should of got over and gave room but let's be real, how many dumb people do you come across each day?

  12. I promised Dodge I would tell this story until the lawsuit settled. The door fell off…it fell off……it fell the fuck off…….spinning me into a dimension of pissed off….

  13. If that officer was out of the vehicle any sooner he may not be alive today that people is why you move over if you see a traffic stop ITS THE LAW
